Rebirth of the Beloved Bicycle x Green Design Paradigm! TAKE-E Green Energy and Subkarma Unveil "Circular Thinking" Packaging at TDRI National Exhibition!

Taipei, October 28 –

Subkarma is a unique and passionate international brand strategy and design consultancy. Since its founding by two British brothers in 2002, Subkarma has consistently focused on the essence and value of branding, providing clients with comprehensive strategy and design services with a fearless, challenging spirit and boundless creativity, creating astonishing brand experiences.

TAKE-E Green Energy was honoured to collaborate with Subkarma on the design of a new generation of low-carbon packaging. This partnership was a surprisingly interesting experience: TAKE-E maintains a simple, pragmatic, and sustainability-oriented product philosophy, while Subkarma is known for its bold, warm, and optimistic international perspective. Though distinct in style, the two design firms, united by the mission to "make green mobility easier," sparked a collaboration that perfectly integrated functionality with environmental ideals.

Many people, when they were young, owned a bicycle they loved—a bicycle they rode to countless places, filled with cherished memories.

However, as time passes, that bike might be silently gathering thick dust in an apartment stairwell or hanging on a wall, never ridden again. When we think about buying a new electric bicycle, we often find there's no extra space at home.

TAKE-E Green Energy’s product design philosophy is all about Rebirth. We are dedicated to revitalizing and utilizing existing bicycles for conversion, upgrading these memory-filled bikes into electric-assisted bicycles in the simplest yet most durable way. This not only breathes new life into an idle, beloved possession but also avoids the trouble of creating new storage space, allowing cherished memories to effortlessly continue with the lowest carbon footprint.

Every TAKE-E component is freely selectable and replaceable, and combined with the reliable quality of "Made in Taiwan," the product itself is a low-carbon solution. Since the core of the product is sustainable reuse, the same ethos must be applied to the packaging.

This is why TAKE-E features the "Circular Thinking" Low-Carbon Packaging co-designed with Subkarma; it fully embodies the brand's commitment to environmental protection and sustainability, from product to packaging.

【Packaging Innovation: Introducing Design to a Sustainable Future】

In this low-carbon packaging project, we not only achieved a simple, modular exterior design but also implemented a strategy of "low-carbon material selection and single-material recycling" from the source:

  • Comprehensive Material Upgrade: While the outer carton provides necessary durability, the internal cushioning material is FSC-certified kraft paper bubble wrap, sourced from sustainably managed forests, which offers excellent shock absorption and is fully biodegradable. Plastic parts bags are replaced with biodegradable bags that protect the environment. Sealing is done using FSC-certified kraft paper tape and eco-friendly stickers.
  • Educational Printing: We integrated our environmental philosophy into the visual design through educational and green messaging printed on the packaging (Market education to advocate for environmentally friendly packaging), encouraging customers to join the movement and making every unboxing a hopeful step toward environmental action.

This innovative achievement was officially unveiled on October 27th at the "(Re):P- Packing Lab Low-Carbon Packaging Design Exhibition," hosted by the International Trade Administration, MOEA, and executed by the Taiwan Design Research Institute (TDRI), illustrating a hopeful new chapter for green mobility and sustainable design.
